Due to an anticipated large crowd, a community meeting regarding the placement of a sexually violent person has been moved a second time.
The meeting will happen tonight(10/24/18) at the Mole Lake Lodge at 6 p.m. It had been changed yesterday to the Town of Nashville after originally being called for the Forest County courthouse.
The state is hoping to place Jeffrey LeVasseur in a home in Forest county.
In 1999, LeVasseur was convicted of two first-degree sexual assault of a child charges. He also was convicted of a sexual assault in Minnesota. He will be released Thursday to a residence on Sand Lake road south of Crandon and east of Mole Lake.
An informal meeting was held Monday in Mole Lake to put together a petition to keep LeVasseur out of Forest county. LeVasseur will be placed on Intensive Supervision, and will be subject to the Global Positioning System monitoring. Levasseur will be required to register with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program for life.
Levasseur sexually assaulted a 7 year old female acquaintance in Minnesota. In Forest County, Levasseur sexually assaulted a 6 year old male acquaintance and a 11 year old female acquaintance. He has a history of sexually assaulting children.
