Two major traffic incidents on main roads Tuesday in the Northwoods.

Traffic was halted on State Highway 47 Tuesday afternoon for about an hour with a three-vehicle crash in Woodruff just north of Lake Tomahawk.

WJFW TV reports four people were taken to Howard Young Medical Center and one was flown out by helicopter following the collisions. The crashes happened near Gritmachen Road. Woodruff Police are investigating the crash. No other details are available.

About 5:00 p.m. in Vilas county, the Sheriff's Department received a call of a large truck on its side on U.S. 45 near Ross Road in Conover. A semi-truck pulling two containers of scrap metal was on its side. Deputies report the truck was southbound near River Road. A northbound SUV on U.S. 45 made a left turn. The semi attempted to stop to avoid a crash but the SUV struck the side of the semi and overturned. The semi flipped on it's side. No one was injured.

U.S. 45 was closed to all traffic for two hours
