A Forest county nursing home is among 38 listed by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services Wednesday as being under active coronavirus investigation.

The Bay at Nu-Roc Community Health and Rehabilitation Center at Laona  was listed as having an active investigation. The Forest County Health Department reported the investigation earlier this week. The release on its website said staff from the Forest County Health Department will contact people of potential exposure.

Earlier, the county health department reported four cases of coronavirus in Forest county.

In a press release, state DHS Secretary-designee Andrea Palm said that the agency published the names of nursing homes to provide peace of mind to families who cannot visit or check on their loved ones.

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett praised the move by the state, saying it was not to embarrass individual nursing homes of long-term care facilities.
