The public is invited to Wisconsin’s Green Fire Annual Meeting being held Friday and Saturday at TreeHaven near Tomahawk.

The organization is comprised of retired and veteran scientists and natural resource managers.

President Terry Daulton of Mercer says their annual meetings are more like conferences where they have open discussion on a variety of topics...

"...We have 10 technical work groups that will be meeting on Friday. Those are folks who have been working on things like high-capacity wells and groundwater levels to chronic wasting disease to climate change. Those work groups will be getting together to think about future directions for our work in the next year..."

She outlines their keynote speakers...

"...Jonathan Gilbert from the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission will be talking about partnerships with Native American communities. We're going to have a wolf panel discussion on Friday afternoon which will look at interacting in difficult policy decision making. What's our role as a purveyor of information versus taking a a stand on policy legislation..."

The keynote speaker is Professor Jennifer Slack of Michigan Tech who will talk about communication in difficult times. The meeting will hear from retired DNR experts and Saturday they will look at future directions for the organization. More information is atwigreenfire.org
