Area Veterans to Board Honor Flight to Washington D.C.

Area Veterans will spend the day touring memorials in Washington D.C. Monday. 83 vets will board the 21st Never Forgotten Honor Flight to tour the Arlington National Cemetery, Iwo Jima Memorial and Air Force Memorial in honor of their service. Co-Founder Mike Thompson says it’s a time for the veterans to share a piece of history, while receiving the recognition they deserve.

“Many families will say they’ve never heard dad or grandpa talk about their time in the service, and quite frankly, many times they’ve never asked. But it’s important for those veterans to tell their story and share their history.”

Thompson says the Never Forgotten Honor Flight will fly 14 World War II veterans, 67 Korean War veterans and two Vietnam War Veterans. He says the public is encouraged to welcome the vets home from the trip at the Central Wisconsin Airport in Mosinee.

The Honor Flight will return September 28 between 9:45 and 10:15 pm.
