Rhinelander Area Food Pantry Prepares for Holiday Season

Rhinelander Area Food Pantry

The Rhinelander Area Food Pantry is ringing in the holidays a bit different this year. While they’re preparing for the usual spike in customers, this year Director Guy Hansen says the pantry is handing out nearly 6,000 pounds of turkey and 7,000 pounds of ham.

“…Every year, we have peaks during the holiday season. If everybody in Rhinelander that was eligible to use the food pantry came here, we could not accommodate them. There are a lot of people who make due, but if we have a turkey to hand out, they’ll show up even if they haven’t been here for 6 months or a year.”

Hansen says this is the first year the pantry is handing out holiday turkeys and hams rather than giving out vouchers. He says the pantry will start distributing turkeys Monday.
