Two local churches are joining together to support clean water for people in Flint, Michigan.
Trinity Lutheran Church and Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, both of Rhinelander, are joining together to Walk for Water. The walk will benefit Salem Lutheran Church in Flint, Michigan and their water distribution efforts in their community.
The 2-mile walk will begin at 9am at Trinity Lutheran Church and will end at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Trinity Pastor, Kari Vadis says they’re walking to bring attention to water safety in places like Flint, Michigan and around the world.
“Basically the walk is to raise awareness. I think the water crisis in Flint, Michigan seems like old news, but there’s still a really big crisis. And so our hope is that walking would remind people that there’s still a crisis and there’s still a need there, and then would empower people to give financially as well.”
Vadis says they’re walking for those who walk every day to find clean water.
She says anyone is invited to walk with them, and there is no entry fee. A free will offering will be collected, but is not required to walk.
