Firefighters Recognized For Actions During Shooting

WAOW Television

Four Wausau firefighters were honored for their acts of bravery during the October 2019 cemetery shooting in Wausau.

Lieutenant Quinn Ambrosius along with firefighter paramedics Austin Kraimer, Ashley Eggers, and Matthew Brockman were honored during the common council meeting Tuesday evening.

The award read, "For actions on October 3, 2019 that were taken at extreme personal risk, above and beyond the call of duty, and were instrumental in rescuing and saving a person's life."

"We're very thankful to have such a supportive community and it feels good to know that we're making a difference and helping people," said Eggers.

As for the battalion chief that nominated the four, he says their action going above and beyond the call of duty deserved recognition.

"Without any regard to their safety to try and save this members life was unsurpassed and unbelievable to me. Their dedication and service to this community is well deserving of this award," said Kraig Kruzan.

He adds that he's proud of every member of the department.
