An outbreak of the flu closed down the Elcho School District for Friday.
The district announced on their website that the district and the Early Learning Center will be closed.
The announcement says the Langlade County Health Department is supporting the decision due to the number of students with flu like symptoms. The announcement says the absence rate has not reached the threshold to require a closure, but they have experienced higher than usual reports of illness. Elcho School District leaders hope the three-day weekend will help prevent further spread of illness.
After-school activities will run as scheduled. Friday’s home girl's basketball game will be played as scheduled. Saturday’s boy's basketball game will be canceled.
School for Elcho will resume on Monday.
