Donation Benefits The Women's Community In Wausau

WAOW Television

The Women's Community helps victims of domestic violence and sexual assault, but it needs support to do it.  The Wausau based organization received one of its largest donations Wednesday afternoon.

As part of their 100th anniversary, the Wisconsin law firm Ruder Ware is donating $100,000 to charitable organizations across Wausau, Green Bay, and Eau Claire where they have offices.

Donations of ten thousand dollars are being made to organizations in those cities.

"As Jane Graham Jennings likes to say you know we're trying to work her out of a job so that such a place like this is no longer needed so we're doing our small part," said Mary Ellen Schill who is a shareholder and on the board of directors at Ruder Ware.

The donation is something The Women's Community will greatly benefit from.

"Often times we can't anticipate everything that people are going to need when they come for services. So, when we have funds that are given to us un restricted then we can put those into kind of what we call a client assistance fund," Jennings said.

She says the client assistance fund is used when something out of the ordinary happens and it allows them to directly address women's needs.
