A Merrill area man shot by police in Lincoln County will go to federal prison for two and a half years on weapons charges.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Wisconsin says 46-year-old Daniel Boldt pleaded guilty Thursday to unlawfully possessing five firearms and ammunition as a convicted felon. He then received a 30-month sentence from U.S. District Judge William Conley.
Last August, Police were looking for Boldt after a woman said Boldt beat her up. She reported that he was a felon and had guns.
Police stopped Boldt while he was driving. During the stop, he reportedly raised a shotgun and refused to follow orders to drop it. A Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy shot him in the shoulder. The deputy was later cleared in the shooting.
