Students in the Crandon School District will not be in the classroom Friday.
According to a statement from Crandon District Administrator Larry Palubicki on the district’s Facebook page, the district received guidance from the Forest County Health Department of a significant increase in confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the area. The statement said due to some extensive contact tracing, the district will be closed to students Friday.
Crandon School District staff will continue to prepare for children moving forward. They’ll use this time to disinfect and deep clean classrooms and facilities.
The statement said the district is taking this action to protect the health and safety of students, staff and families. They hope to be able to return to in-person learning in the near future. That will depend on the status of COVID-19 and guidance received from the Forest County Health Department. The Crandon district hopes to have more information Friday regarding what learning model they’ll move forward with next week.
