The Vilas County highway committee members were informed requests have been received to open all county trunk highways in the towns of Plum Lake and Boulder Junction to ATV/UTV travel.
According to county highway commissioner Troy Schalinske the e-mail request to open the county roads in Plum Lake came from The Barnstormers Snowmobile ATV/UTV spokesperson Dennis Horan on Oct. 12. The request to open county roads in Boulder Junction came from Rich Relien dated Oct 11 who indicated “it would eliminate gaps is routes that currently exist” between adjacent towns.
Schalinske sent letters Oct. 12 to the respective town chairs notifying them of the requests indicating the county ordinance requires the towns be notified “at least 30 days prior to considering and action taken on” the requests, stating “the requests will be placed on the Nov. 16, 2021 highway committee agenda.”
It’s anticipated the large meeting room in the new courthouse addition will hold the meeting.
