Local voters rejected four school referendums in voting on Tuesday.

More than 6,000 people voted in Tuesday’s Tomahawk school referendum.

It failed by just 51 votes.

It would have allowed the district to raise an additional $14 million in revenue for operations over the next four years.

A referendum vote also failed in the Elcho School District by about 200 votes.

It would have raised $4 million over four years. Elcho will likely try again in April.

Wausau voters had two school referendums on the ballot and defeated both of them.

One was a $3 million recurring referendum for operations and maintenance, the other would have authorized borrowing $155 million for a new elementary school and other projects.
