Thursday was World Day Against Trafficking in Persons. A demonstration against human trafficking was held on the 400 Block in downtown Wausau to bring attention to the crime.
Operation Underground Railroad held demonstrations across the globe Thursday to bring awareness to human trafficking.
The hope is that their demonstrations raise awareness about child slavery and the importance of government action in the interests of victims of trafficking.
"Each one of these people are standing in place for one of those children who are waiting to be saved and each one of these people are showing others that there is a light and that there are things that even though we're one small individual we can raise our awareness in the communities," said Nicole Thomas who is a Our Rescue demonstration volunteer.
