Help Stop the Spread of Misinformation, Fact Check Election Information

PIXABAY.COM

With a surge in COVID-19 cases across Wisconsin right now, there is a very real possibility you will be under quarantine or even hospitalized on Election Day.

The hospitalized elector process is something that’s been around for a long time.

It allows people who are hospitalized on Election Day or in the days leading up to it to cast their ballot.

The Wisconsin Elections Commission voted early this year to extend that qualification to voters that are also quarantined.

“We did not see a significant increase in the usage of  that provision in other elections this year but it remains an option that’s available to those voters that cannot leave to be able to participate on election day,” said Wisconsin’s Chief Election Official Meghan Wolfe.

To use this option to vote, follow theinstructions from the Wisconsin Elections Commission.

No matter how you decide to vote this elections, election officials want you to know you’re vote is secure. They also want you to know where to get the most accurate information.

“There are groups that are trying to confuse and mislead  voters, to sow doubt about the process, and we all have a duty to check our facts and to stop the spread of mis- and dis-information. If you see something suspicious, something that doesn’t make sense as a voter. You have the responsibility to fact check it,” said Wolfe.

Myvote.WI.gov is going to be one of your best resources for the latest and most accurate information about the election process in Wisconsin. That’s also where you can track your ballot.

You can also visit the Wisconsin Elections Commission websiteto learn about the security steps being taken.

“Our technological systems in Wisconsin are secure. They are ready. We’ve been preparing for, assessing, protecting, adjusting our technology, to keep pace for the last four years,” said Wolfe. “So please to voters, this is a very important reminder, do not help rumors spread.”
