Each year, Oneida and Vilas counties have programs to help propel local folks into roles of leadership in the community.

Oneida county has had a program since 2009, graduating more than a dozen people each year.

Oneida County UW-Extension and others are putting together an advanced leadership training program beginning in September for six consecutive months.

One of the organizers is Erica Brewster of Three Lakes. She says anyone who has completed Leadership Oneida County is eligible for the upcoming sessions..

"...Many leadership alumni leave Leadership Oneida County excited about developing their leadership skills and have time to go back and reflect on how they are working within the county. This is an opportunity to come together and really focus on your own personal development as a leader...."

She says it helps people to discuss the challenges they've encountered after completing the course.

In the first Leadership course, candidates are shown the various aspects of life here, including government, commerce, education, media and other aspects. This course will build on that initial experience.

The Leadership 2.0 program starts on September 24 and will run for six sessions every other Tuesday. Sessions will be held at the ArtStart conference room in downtown Rhinelander. Each evening begins with a social time at 5:30 followed by the class at 6 PM. Each week will feature a different topic and facilitators.

Cost for the full six courses is $40, or $10 each if taken as individual classes.

LOC Alumni are invited to bring a guest for $5 per class. The guest must attend with the alumni. Class size is limited to 15 alumni. Registration deadline is Friday, August 30.

Interested candidates can contact Myles Alexander at UW-Extension, or Brewster at the Demmer Library in Three Lakes.
