After waiving his right last week to have a preliminary hearing, Vilas County Judge Neal Nielsen, III bound Tyler Metz, 19 over for arraingment on four felony charges stemming from an accident last January 23 on Highway 51 near Bakkan Road in Boulder Junction that claimed the life of Tim Boss, 59 of Manitowish Waters.

Metz is alleged to have been the driver of the vehicle that crossed the center line of the snow covered road and collided head on with the other vehicle.

After state crime lab tests were reported to Vilas County, district attorney Martha Milinowski filed four felony charges; vehicle homicide while using a controlled substance, causing injury while operating a motor vehicle while using a controlled substance, possession of a narcotic drug, and possession of methamphetamine. He entered not guilty pleas to all charges.

The court set a pre-trial conference with the district attorney for July 30. Bond was continued and he must have a parent or grandparent present except when working. He previously listed Popular, Wisconsin as his residence but now resides with his grandparents in Rhinelander. If convicted on all counts, Metz faces a maximum 38 years in prison.
