A male resident at Rennes Health and Rehab in Rhinelander is one of the people who tested positive for COVID-19 in Oneida County.

The test was administered on Friday and Rennes was notified of the result on Sunday.

"The facility has been in contact with the resident's family and the Oneida County Public Health Department," said Vikki Baumler, the Digital Media Manager for The Rennes Group. "We continue to follow the recommendations of the Oneida County Public Health Department, the CDC, and the Wisconsin Department of Health Services."

The person is being isolated off-site.  Prior to the test, Baumler said the resident exhibited rapid onset of respiratory symptoms and was transferred to the hospital for evaluation.

As it has since mid-March, Rennes remains in a lockdown, allowing only essential visitors.  All staff, residents, and essential visitors complete a daily screening.

Staff, visitors, and residents who leave their room are required to wear masks and other protection.

On Sunday, the Oneida County Health Department announced it had identified a second and third COVID-positive patient in the county, and found evidence of community spread.  The resident at Rennes is one of the three.
