A Northern Wisconsin shooting range is closed until further notice.
The C.W. Caywood Shooting Range is a state-owned range right off US 51.
During a recent inspection of the range, the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) discovered significant safety concerns. DNR staff will continue surveying and considering safety alternatives to ensure safe shooting operations going forward.
"They observed some bullets that had left the shooting range facility, and since that area around it is all public access, that created some safety concerns," said James Yach, DNR Secretary's Director-Northern Wisconsin.
Even though this range is closed, there are other available ranges in the area.
