A storm Sunday evening has resulted in damage severe enough to prompt the Vilas County Sheriff's Department to ask motorists to avoid the Star Lake area.
The department reports the storm moved through about 8 p.m. in the East Star Lake Campground on county "N" in Star Lake.
Responders at that time report multiple trees down, property damage and roads blocked. No injuries were reported.
The Sheriff's office advised motorists traveling in the area to avoid county "N" north of county "G" and county "K" east and west of Star Lake.
As of midnight, County Highway K and County Highway N were again open for travel. Many trees were still down along the shoulder of the roads and some town roads were limited to one lane of traffic. Travel in some areas may be hazardous and the sheriff's office asked travelers to proceed with caution while emergency crews are continuing to clear debris.
As of this morning, Wisconsin Public Service is reporting on their website about 220 outages in the Eagle River-Star Lake area.
