Two Vilas Courthouse Positions Filled

Ken Anderson

Vilas County has filled two recent vacant positions in the courthouse with the hiring of Darcy Smith as the new Finance Director and Morgan Tomczyk as the new assistant District Attorney.

The new finance director may be a familiar face since Darcy Smith was the finance director for Oneida County since 2016.

Smith indicated she has been vacationing in Vilas County for the last 25 years and can now say Vilas County is her home. She has about 15 years’ experience in the government accounting field and said “I consider myself fortunate to work in the county I call my home and look forward to serving the taxpayers of Vilas County.”

Smith replaces Jason Hilger who returned to Langlade County to work as the county manager.

The new assistant District Attorney, Morgan Tomczyk, was an intern in the DA’s office last year working under Martha Milanowski.  She is a graduate of Northland Pines school district, UW-Stevens Point, and UW law school.

Tomczyk was previously employed by the UW heath system.
