White Deer Triathlon Saturday In Boulder Junction

A unique Northwoods event bringing together running, biking and paddling is set for Saturday.

The fifth-annual White Deer Triathlon is being held in Boulder Junction. The event features a 3-kilometer canoe/kayak/stand-up paddleboard course on Boulder Lake, 22-kilometer bike ride on Boulder Junction’s paved trails and a 6-kilometer run along scenic county roads and forest trail.

Boulder Junction Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Theresa Smith says there's about 300 athletes signed up...

"...To get the folks out, kicking off the spring season. They've been in training since the snow has melted across the state and beyond. We're getting them out there to enjoy their time on the lake, using their bicycles and running throughout town. It's a competitive race for some and for others it's fun to do it and say they completed a triathlon...."

Theresa Smith says the Lions Club is having a cookout at the finish line so the public is invited to come and join in and cheer...

"If people want to find information about the triathlon specifically regarding the race, what the routes would be or any other information or to register, we still have space available, they can visit White Deer Triathlon .com or call us at the chamber at 1-800-GO-MUSKY...'

The event is open to individuals, 2-person team and 3-person relay team participants from amateur to seasoned triathlete, ages 15-70+ Orientation is Friday evening at the Boulder Junction Community Building.

The finish line and awards will be at the Center outside in the Lions Pavilion area after 11:00am Saturday.
