Northwood Homeless Shelter Needs Support

Northwoods Alliance For Temporary Housing

The Northwoods Alliance For Temporary Housing has entered a contest which could help put a new roof on the Frederick Place homeless shelter and a possibly a new bathroom. A NATH spokesperson says the public's help is needed today.

NATH Board member Carol Miller says the organic products company "Tom's of Maine" is sponsoring an effort called "50 States of Good". Miller says the company give's $10,000 grants to non-profits....

"...there are two projects we are looking at to better serve our 16 clients that live at Frederick Place...and one is we're going to need a new roof..."

Miller says they also need a second bathroom upstairs at the shelter where families and single moms live.

The deadline for support is at 4:00 p.m. Monday, July 8. A committee will pick 51 finalists, then the 15 projects selected will be determined by a vote on Facebook in September and October.

More information is at the Toms of Maine website.
