Post Office Asks You Mail Early Especially For Overseas

Wikimedia Commons

Rhinelander Postmaster Anthony Turek says activity at the post office has noticeably picked up as Christmas approaches, and says mail early, especially if you're shipping packages overseas. Turek says a cutoff date is coming up this week...

"....the first one coming up is for military APO-FPO sites, and the "mail by" date for that is Dec. 9, for first-class mail. If you have anything you want to send first class to an APO-FPO military site, do that by December 9...."

Turek says if you want to ship to a military site priority mail express, the cutoff for that is one week later. Turek says within the United States, December 15 is the cutoff date for ground transportation, December 20 is the cutoff date for regular first-class mail, December 21 is the cutoff for priority mail and December 23 is the cutoff date for priority mail express.

Here's alink to the U.S. Post Office tips on mailing.
