Leadership Oneida County Seeking New Applicants

Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce

A program grooming the next generation of leaders in Oneida county is looking for applicants for the next session.

Leadership Oneida County began in 2009.

The Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce is one of the organizations facilitating the nine-month program. Executive Director Lauren Sackett describes what it does...

"....For people who want to get involved in the community, they seek to be a little more active as they learn about things in the county that they maybe don't know are here. It helps them develop different leadership skills. They do some testing with the MBTI and learning about the world around them...."

The MBTI is the Myers-Briggs psychological test to help people discover what personality type they would be as a leader.

The program meets monthly for day-long sessions beginning in September and finishing with a graduation ceremony in May. Program activities will include touring Oneida County businesses and meeting with community leaders in a variety of areas.

Attendees also work to help the community says Sackett...

"...One of the things we ask people to do is create a service project. A lot of different community projects have come out of Leadership Oneida County that continue today...."

There is a fee. It's open to all Oneida county residents or employees of Oneida county businesses. Two scholarships are available. More information is available at the Chamber or at the Chamber website under Leadership Oneida county or by contacting the Chamber.
