Starjournalnow.com

A well-known Oneida county leader had her last day of work with friends and co-workers Thursday. After nearly 23 years leading Oneida county senior programs, Dianne Jacobson has retired.

An open house to showcase the one-year anniversary as the ADRC of the Oneida county was also held in conjunction with Jacobson's retirement gathering.

The program was previously known as the Department on Aging. Jacobson says it was a team effort...

"...I am so grateful for the opportunity that Oneida county gave me when they hired me almost 23 years ago. I'm grateful to all our participants how they've supported me. That's what unique about our program, we don't do things for older adults, we do it with them..."

She says one of many highlights of her career was the approval of the re-branding of the Department on Aging into the Aging and Disability Resource Center of Oneida County, or ADRC...

"...I'm grateful knowing I can leave with our department in a very good place as far as public knowledge of what we do and the great staff we have. Many people think of us as "Meals On Wheels" but there's so much we do with caregivers and families. I've just seen how our department is a trusted source, not only when I was here, but before me..."

She says she will do what many people do in retirement: see friends and do some traveling. A

ssistant Director Joel Gottsaker will be the interim Director.
