10th Sustainability Fair Cancelled This Spring, But Might Emerge Later

Joint Air Base San Antonio

It was supposed to be memorable year for the Northwoods Sustainability Fair, marking its tenth anniversary on the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, April 22. Then the COVID-19 virus came around.

Spokesperson Ann Eshleman says the recent developments put an end to the fair for this spring . The fair has seen a steady growth in popularity.

The Sustainability Fair is designed to educate the community on different environmentally conscious alternatives in the Northwoods and keeping our Earth healthy.

The festival has brought in speakers, vendors with sustainable businesses musicians and more. It has moved to Nicolet College. Eshleman says they hope to bring a bit of the Fair around when Project North is scheduled to be held in Rhinelander in September....

"Last year we did collaborate with Project North and had a little 'mini-Earth Day-fair at Project North in September. We're going to keep our options open. Perhaps doing a little more with Project North if things settle down by September..."

40 vendors were expected this year.

Eshleman says she's worried about the small businesses who came each year, giving a venue for the small vendors and badly needed income.

Eshleman says the situation is unfortunate she says they didn't know what else they could do.
