A $14 million expansion and renovation project at the Sartori cheese facilities in Antigo and Plymouth was announced Wednesday by the state.

The expansion is expected to bring 53 new jobs to the two facilities.

Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation spokesperson Mark Maley(mail-lee) says the project will enable the fourth-generation family-owned company to update equipment in its 100-year-old facility in Antigo, improve employee working conditions, enhance safety and sustainability initiatives while expanding capacity....

?

"....they came to WEDC looking for some financial assistance. We've worked with them for several months are are really thrilled we can keep this long-time Wisconsin company in the state..."

Maley says they were able to help the company through almost $395,000 in tax credits...

?

"....this company already has 185 jobs so this(announcement) is an assurance that those jobs are going to be staying in Wisconsin, and on top of that, they're going to be adding another 53 jobs as well, about 220 jobs in this company...."

The tax credits will be distributed annually based on the number of new, full-time positions created over a three-year period.

Maley says the ripple effect is that the local economy will benefit for farm families, milk haulers, and others.
