Eligible Residents Can Sign Up For Fuel Assistance, WPS Budgeting

Wisconsin Public Service is hoping eligible persons take advantage of funds available to help pay for home heating costs.

Spokesperson Matt Cullen says they would like customers to check their eligibility to receive winter heating assistance as the colder weather approaches.

Cullen has some tips...

"...They can go to the Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance website which is homeenergyplus.wi.gov or they can go to Wisconsin Public Service's website at wisconsinpublicservice.com We also have a section to check their eligibility to receive energy assistance. If a customer is interested in applying for energy assistance, they will need to contact an agent in the county they reside in to begin that process....."

Cullen says a complete list of agencies that provide heating assistance is available on the WPS website. Cullen says residents don't need to be behind in their energy bills to receive assistance...

"..If they are having difficulty paying energy bills, contact us right away. That will help (WPS) employees to work with them on minimum payment options, payment arrangement or provide them with more information and assistance to apply for energy assistance...."

Cullen says if a customer gets behind in their bills, call Wisconsin Public Service and they will work with the customer to get caught up.

Wisconsin Public Service is also working with the energy assistance group Focus on Energy to help get rid of less energy efficient appliances.
