A Gleason postal worker has been sentenced in federal court for theft of mail by a postal employee.
48 year old Lisa Virginia A. Barker was sentenced Wednesday by U.S. District Judge Lynn Adelman to one year probation, a $125 fine and $80 restitution. Barker pleaded guilty to this charge last October.
Barker was employed as a rural mail carrier at the post office in Schofield until May 2011. In late 2010 and early 2011, after customer complaints of missing mail, the Post Office Inspector General conducted an investigation that found Barker had stolen items.
When confronted about the theft of a gift card, Barker admitted that she had opened mail and taken items from the mail on approximately five or six occasions.
