Probation For LDF Woman Convicted On Oxy Charges

A Lac du Flambeau woman has escaped long prison time after her son was sentenced last month to more than three years in federal prison.

Federal Judge Barbara Crabb in Madison sentenced 54 year old Lois Vetterneck to a one-year term of probation. She had entered  after a guilty plea April 2 to distributing Oxycodone.

In April 2013, confidential informants purchased Oxycodone from Lois Vetterneck and her son Brandon, on three occasions.

Judge Crabb determined probation was appropriate for Lois Vetterneck because she is seeking treatment for her addiction to Oxycodone, she does not have any other felony convictions, her age, other health issues, and because she is the primary caregiver for three young children.  As a result of this investigation, Lois Vetterneck was evicted from her home.

On May 30,  Judge Crabb sentenced 27 year old Brandon Vetterneck to 40 months in federal prison.
