Food Pantry Sets Date for Move

The Rhinelander Food Pantry has set its first distribution date at its new facility for Saturday, October 4th.

The organization is moving to a larger space on Coon Street that it says will be much more functional.

As Food Pantry Director Guy Hansen explains, it’s been a busy few weeks, with major construction projects getting completed at the new site.  Contractors and dozens of volunteers have put on a new roof and installed a large dividing wall.

“The wall was done a week or so ago – it’s up, it’s painted, and we actually have shelving up on both sides of it. So we’re ready to put food up on the shelving, and that’s the next task in that area.”

Now that most of the renovations have been done, Hansen says they’re beginning the process of moving furniture and other inventory into the new space.

He says while not everything will be done by October 4th, that’s the day the food pantry plans to be up and running with distribution.

There is also an open house scheduled for October 21st
