Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center

The Oscar G. Johnson VA Medical Center is partnering with the UP Superior Alliance for Independent Living (SAIL) to hold an adaptive bike clinic next week. Adaptive bikes and adaptive tricycles are specifically designed for people with physical and developmental disabilities.

They offer an enhanced sense of freedom and mobility.Veterans and their families are welcome to come anytime during the clinic to test ride.

Spokesperson Brad Nelson says area veterans can find a bike they can use..

"...Veterans and their families are welcome to come and test ride several different types of adaptive bikes and how they benefit riders. We're going to have eight to 10 different bikes for participants to try. If a person doesn't think they can ride a bike, our event coordinators says they will get them on one of them..."

The free event will be held Wednesday, August 21 at Redemption Hill Church located in Kingsford, Michigan. Staff from the VA and other support organizations will also be on hand from noon to 2 p.m. with information on VA’s nutrition, wellness, and whole health programs.
