The United Way's 2-1-1 Addiction Recovery Hotline has just passed its first year of helping people seeking aid with addiction problems.
Officials say the line is a convenient way for people seeking help to get those services.
In Marathon county, United Way's 2-1-1 Director MaiGer Moua says the hotline was launched in 2018 as a state-grant funded effort...
"...The purpose of the Wisconsin Addiction Recovery Hotline is to provide individuals who are going through recovery or are seeking help with their substance use, as well as friends and family members who are impacted by substance abuse to have a place to call for information about local resources that can help them through their process, their recovery..."
The free, confidential service that is available 24 hours a day by dialing 2-1-1. She says they've seen results...
"....We have taken over 5,500 calls, texts and chats from residents in Wisconsin who are seeking help with their substance use...."
MaiGer Moua says they also encourage friends and families to get involved in the recovery of the person affected.
