Vilas County Records First COVID-19 Death

Vilas county's first COVID-19 related death was reported Tuesday afternoon by the Health Department.

The person was in the 60's and had severe underlying health conditions.

Public Health Director Laurel Dreger says they're saddened by the loss of a community member. She says this coronavirus can cause serious health complications and death, especially among older adults and people with chronic health conditions.

She asked the public to prevent the spread of the illness by washing hands, physical distancing, wearing face coverings and staying home when sick.

  • Vilas county has 79 positive cases.
  • Forest county has 61 positive cases and four deaths.
  • Oneida county has 182 positive cases and zero deaths.
  • Langlade county has 74 positive cases, 2 deaths.
  • Lincoln county has 73 positive cases and 1 death.
  • Price county has 33 cases, zero deaths.
  • Iron county has 90 cases and one death.
