Wisconsin COVID deaths surpass 10,000 as cases continue to rise

More than 10,000 Wisconsinites have died from COVID-19.

The state is currently averaging 24 new deaths a day.

The 7-day average for new COVID cases is now 3,869, the highest it’s been in a year.

Hospitalizations are still at critical levels with more than 90% of hospital beds in use. In the North Central region, ICUs are at peak capacity.

The Department of Health Services issued a public health advisory earlier this month because of the threat of the omicron variant.

It asks people to get vaccinated, wear a mask in public, and get tested before visiting with others during the holidays.
