National Weather Service issues Ice Storm Warning for North Central Wisconsin

National Weather Service

The National Weather Service has issued an Ice Storm Warning. It includes Iron, Vilas, Forest, Oneida, Langlade, Lincoln, and Price counties in Wisconsin as well as Gogebic, Iron, and Dickinson counties in the U.P.

The warning is in effect from Midnight Friday until noon Saturday.

Freezing rain will cause ice accumulation on roads and sidewalks. Downed tree limbs and power outages are possible.

Roads will be icy and slippery making travel difficult. The National Weather Service says travel is strongly discouraged.

You can track road conditions at Wisconsin 511.

The freezing rain is expected to transition into rain by Saturday afternoon as temperatures climb to nearly 40.

There’s a slight possibility for thunderstorms Saturday night.
