An unusual October weather pattern has raised the possibility of some flooding in some parts of the listening area.
National Weather Service meteorologist in Green Bay Scott Berschback says some places in the Northwoods have picked up more than 5 inches of rain in the past week.
We spoke with Berschback Wednesday morning...
"...Rhinelander for the month is sitting at 3.75 inches of rain for the month to date so far. We actually set a record rainfall(Tuesday 10/9) of 1.27 inches..."
He says the rain will continue into Thursday....
"...It could create some areas of flooding, especially the rural areas, some urban flooding is also possible in the heavier rain showers. That is going to slowly end as a strong cold front moves through the area, bringing drier but much colder and windier weather...."
He says areas prone to flooding will slowly be on the rise through the river basins..
"We are expecting the Wisconsin to increase throughout the day and for the next couple of days, then peak, depending on where you are, sometime later this week...."
Berschback says this long term rain caused by a stationary front is a very unusual weather pattern in Wisconsin this time of year. He cautions all drivers to avoid going through water across roads.
