DNR Again Warns Hunters About Website License Scam

Wisconsin DNR

The DNR is again urging the hunting public to beware of fraudulent online license scams.

DNR officials are aware of at least two websites claiming to offer Wisconsin hunting licenses. After paying a fee, consumers only receive information on how to apply for a license. These sites also collect sensitive personal data as part of their unauthorized transactions.

DNR spokesperson Kimberly Currie says the best way to get the license online is through the DNR website...

"...We want to remind folks there is just one place online to get your Wisconsin hunting license and that is through the DNR at our Go Wild site. You can link to that by going to dnr.wi. gov and hitting the link for the Go Wild account. Customers who have already set up their account can log in on the homepage and purchase their license..."

Currie says if you don't want to make the transaction on line, there are more than 1,000 independent agents more than willing to sell you a license. Currie says if a website offers you information on getting a license for a fee, it isn't the DNR website.
