50th Anniversary Of Earth Day Dampened By Pandemic, But Nelson Sees Hope

The pandemic has changed what had been planned as a global celebration of the 50th anniversary of Earth Day, founded by former Wisconsin U.S. Senator and Governor Gaylord Nelson. Nelson cobbled together support in Congress and led the first Earth Day in 1970.

His daughter, Tia Nelson works for the Outrider Foundation on the topic of climate change.

For Earth Day, the foundation put together a documentary titled "When The Earth Moves". The video looks at how Gaylord Nelson's 1970's movement has evolved toward a focus on climate change with some surprising political collaborations.

Ken Krall caught up with Tia Nelson this month to discuss the film that is already drawing attention and the future...
