Local Thrift Store Donates to Minocqua Police Department's K9 Program

en.wikipedia.org

The Minocqua Police Department received a $20,000 donation from the St. Matthias Thrift Shop in support of the department’s upcoming K9 Program. The Minocqua Town Board approved the outside funding for the program in August, and Chief of Police David Jaeger says the donation is a step in the right direction.

“…we, as a department, have set a goal of $100,000 and that goal will assist us in purchasing, training K9 and a specialized handler along with a fully equipped squad car to establish the program here at the department.”

Jaeger says the K9 program is a crucial component in keeping the officers and community safe. He says the K9’s will be used to track missing persons, provide local schools with K9 sniffs and educate the community about drug and safety awareness.
