Minocqua Police Department Fundraising for K9 Unit

en.wikipedia.org

The Minocqua Police Department needs $80,000 to get a K9 unit at their department. So far they’ve raised around $50,000 through both their GoFundMe page and other fundraisers. Police Chief, David Jaeger says although expensive, the K9 unit will benefit their community.

“... search and rescue of individuals who may have wandered off into the woods.. I believe the canine could bring them back safely. It is also a means of drug interdiction along the corridor of highway 51 which is a main corridor to the north central area of our state.”’

Jaeger says they want to establish their K9 unit purely through fundraising, and without cost to taxpayers.

He says they’re looking for volunteers to help out at their first annual Lakeland Area Public Safety day on Saturday, August 27th. People can participate in fire and bus safety activities, get their car seats checked, and enjoy various displays by the departments.

For more information or to donate go to the Minocqua Police Department website.
