Forest County Case Rate Jumps to 1002, Nearly Double the Second Highest County Case Rate

The Forest County case rate or burden is now at 1002. On Tuesday, it was at 544.5 which was the highest in the state at the time. Now it’s nearly doubled the next highest burden.

For persepctive, this is the burden for other counties in the region:

  • Oneida County: 208.8
  • Vilas County: 184.7
  • Iron County (WI): 171.1
  • Langlade County: 156.7
  • Lincoln County: 123.1
  • Florence County: 542.9
  • Price County: 36.2

Since the start of the pandemic, 183 people from Forest County have tested positive for COVID-19. 76 of those cases are currently active. Two people are currently hospitalized. More than 2,000 people have tested negative.
The Forest County Health Department has called on tribal, regional and state partners to help with contact tracing.

The department announced a new possible exposure site.

Two people who recently tested positive were at Mainstreet Ed’s in Argonne this past weekend.

If you were at the bar Friday, Saturday or Sunday and think you may have been exposed, health officials are asking you to self-quarantine and get tested.

WXPR has reached out to DHS, Forest County Health Department, Sokaogon Chippewa Community, Forest County Potawatomi, and Ascension to get more information about the situation in Forest County. We’ll continue to update you as we learn more.
