The LDF Country Market wants to make sure families have food on the tables through the holidays.

Now through the end of the year it's accepting donations for its ‘Hunger Hurts’ Campaign.

Market General Manager George Carufel said this is its third year collecting food donations.

“The first two years we called the program ‘Food for Good’ and this year we decided to go with the ‘Hunger Hurts’ cause it is hurting a lot of people,” said Carufel.

There will be collection bins at LDF Country Market. People can drop off non-perishable food and household items.

“There are so many people that are out fighting to get food on the table, clothes on their back, pay their bills, so on and so forth,” said Carufel. “Some people will have a harder time this donating because their going through the same thing. The need is still there and anything that can be donated would be greatly appreciated.”

The items will go directly to the Tribal Economic Support Program to help families through the holidays.

“Of course anything shelf stable is great and appreciate, canned goods, boxed goods, so on and so forth, but I actually think this time of year even household good, any detergents, cleaners, paper goods would be appreciated,” said Carufel.

Carufel also said he’d accept gift cards to give to families.

The LDF Country Market is located off Highway 47 across from the Casino in Lac du Flambeau.
