Eagle River Ad Hoc Dog Park Committee Selects Site

A site has been selected on the south end of the municipal airport for the proposed Eagle River dog park by the municipal ad hoc committee is a meeting.

It’s anticipated the location can be adjusted based on use with both an area for small dogs and another adjacent for larger dogs. The area is west of Adams Road and north of Recycling Way with Eagle Waste & Recycling on the west.

Committee chairman Ron Kressin was pleased with the new area.

“This spot I favor since it’s close to town and has some existing fencing,” Kressin said.

Residents living west along the Wisconsin River off Illinois Road had objected to locating the proposed dog park off Bolte Road and spokesperson Jay Colker was pleased with the new location.

“We did object to the sites off Bolte Road but this new location will not affect our area,” Colker said. “I’m impressed on your brainstorming and looking forward and I wish you well. I will let our residents know of this and urge them to help finance it if they can.”

Financing will be an issue on when and how the dog park will be developed since the city will not provide funds.  The discussion centered on actually laying out the area to determine parking, a shelter building, water source, waste disposal, and fencing. Community organizations will be contacted for assistance.
