Perseids Meteor Shower Peaks Early Thursday, Still Visible Through August 23

DEAN S. ACHESON

The Perseids meteor shower peaked Wednesday night into early Thursday.  It will still be visible through August 23, with this week being the best.

It’s often considered to be one of the best meteor showers of the year due to its high rates and comfortable temperatures.

The moon will drop visibility, but according to NASA 15 to 20 meteors should be visible per hour.

The best viewing hours are generally after midnight until the pre-dawn hours.

You can learn more about the Perseids meteor shower on NASA's website
