Northland Pines to offer free COVID testing for students, staff, and families

Free testing for COVID has been approved by the Northland Pines policy committee last week sponsored by the Wisconsin Dept. of Health Services for all students, staff, and their families.

According to district administrator Scott Foster, the free testing has been offered to all school districts and will consist of a quick test and a long-term test.

“Two swabs will be taken, and the quick test results will be available in 15-20 minutes,” Foster said. “The second swab will be sent out with results coming back in about 24 hours.”

Northland Pines will have a room available in the Eagle River elementary school where state sponsored tests can be taken five days a week from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Foster indicated the tests are strictly voluntary with no charge to individuals or to district taxpayers.

“This will keep kids safer, staff safer, and keep in-class instruction and that’s what we want,” Foster said. “Other nearby districts can come here for testing is they want to.”
