Groomers have been working overtime since Sunday’s snowfall to pack down trail bases across the Northwoods.

Minocqua Winter Park got enough snow to open Wednesday.

“The trails right now are beautiful,” said Minocqua Winter Park General Manager Mark Stuber.

He’s excited to welcome people back for another season. Stuber said Sunday’s winter storm brought plenty of snow that’s packing down well.

“It’s little thin, but the trails are skiing beautifully, and they look great,” he said.

Most, if not all, of the ski trails will be open Wednesday.

Stuber said if you’re worried about your equipment you can go with your rock skis, but he doesn’t think they’ll be needed.

“We’re expecting another storm later this week, so that will really help brush things up and get it fresh for the weekend, but as far as skiing goes, it’s going to be great. We’re really going to hit the ground running, especially compared to last year,” he said.

Stuber says the ice skating pond likely won’t open this year.

Winter Park does offer snowshoeing and fat-tire biking trails. Some new multi-use trails went in over the summer.

“Those are new and fresh and are exciting. One of the things that’s really nice here at the park are longer snowshoe trails. I don’t think they get utilized a lot which is unfortunate, they really get you out in the middle of no where and give you a sense of what the Northwoods is all about,” said Stuber.

Winter Park is still waiting on some equipment, once it’s in the snowshoe and fat-tire bike trails will be groomed.

Stuber says the park is in the middle of upgrading its website.

It recommends going to itsFacebook page for the latest updates.
