Ascension Wisconsin and Marshfield Clinic Health Systems have announced they're working cooperatively on services for women giving birth.
In a joint press release, the Northwoods health providers says they've been considering the transition of labor and delivery services in the Lakeland area.
Officials report a decision was made for Howard Young Medical Center to transition labor and delivery services to Marshfield Clinic Medical Center-Minocqua when it opens. The release indicates Howard Young Medical Center will work with Marshfield Clinic to staff Howard Young Medical Center's labor and delivery unit through April when obstetrics patient care will transition to Marshfield Clinic Medical Center-Mincoqua.
The new Clinic birthing center will provide four private rooms for labor and delivery and a dedicated C-section room for planned or urgent deliveries.
Established Ascension patients will continue to have the option of delivering at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital in Rhinelander.
WXPR requested further comment on the agreement, but both providers denied further comment.
